She had her make up and
her favourite dress after a long time.
Doctor said “Take care girl,
Now you are fine”.
Seeing herself in the mirror,
She did blush, I did smile
The clock struck twelve,
in the meanwhile.
“Happy Birthday Love”, I screamed
& happiness started to linger
I continued singing,
Though I was a terrible singer.
I put a tiara on her head
& a knife on her claw
I brought a vanilla cake
& some candles to blow.
I gave her a greeting card &
lot of photographs of hers.
and a pair of earrings,
Just the design, she prefers.
The sky had no sorrow clouds
It was the month of june.
So took her out in open & I
I woke her up in the morning
& said “Let’s do what you like”
“Take the keys, you will drive,
a long drive in my bike”.
We drank a cup of coffee
On our way return
As the day passed
we had, a lot of fun.
With my poor jokes,
I made her smile.
& then, her doctor
rang up in the meanwhile.
Doctor said “Her reports have come
& I have nothing left to say…
Keep her happy boy,
She will not be there for your birthday”
I summoned all my courage
& decided to conceal
“She cannot leave me alone,
She will have to heal”
After sometime,
She came to me & said
“I will also celebrate
Your birthday like a festival”
I tried, but failed to hold,
the tears before my girl.
We were made for each other
& she was my perfect match
She sat & smiled to me
as I framed her in a sketch.
I gifted her a poem
which I wrote for her.
She kissed me and said
“You will always be mine, duffer”
My tears came in the form of rain
as August arrived.
The doctors kept wondering
“Which vibes could possibly help her survive?”
She grew weak, week by week
I kept praying without uttering a word.
T’was night of twenty - fifth
that she started vomiting blood.
I took her in my arms & started crying
She said smiling “I haven't yet gone away”
“I will be there duffer,
For your birthday”.
Meanwhile the clock struck twelve
I cried for mercy
and looked up above.
& she died with her last words :
“Happy Birthday Love”.
