A KILOMETRE AWAY

 

Sometimes in the midst of sleep
A voice arises from somewhere deep,
A voice so melodious and sweet,
Still dreaming, I remain enraptured in its spirit.
Moments later the voice gets accompanied by a face,
Like a celestial nymph with divine grace.
It’s enough to wake me up in distress
And throughout the day the visuals remain afresh.

For she is none but you my first love
Haunting me again after many years.
I still can’t forget your deep and brown eyes,
Your twin braid hair and your lethal smile,
Which are still giving me sighs.
But why do I feel tensed about you?
What is it that worries me?
For I have moved on and so have you.

It’s but the feeling of compassion
That urges me to relieve your depression.
Oh! How cheerful a girl were you.
Filling the atmosphere with jokes so amusing,
Sharing your delicious dishes that were so tempting,
Though you annoyed at times with your singing,
Yet with you the world never seemed boring.
And you could reach such a state it’s surprising.

There is no one but you responsible
For all that is now happening.
You are to be blamed for all this suffering.
Since even in darkest of my thoughts had I not imagined
That you can resort to extreme intoxication
By destroying all your virtues and well being,
By floating in an air of addictive smoke,
Not realising that your life will soon choke.

Nevertheless you should not lose hope,
Since I am there to help you with all scope.
The doors of my heart are always open for you,
A new stress free life I am ready to give you.
Just one call and everything I shall forsake.
Just one step ahead which you have to take.
From the dark night of ebriety
I shall take you towards the day,
With me as companion you won’t go astray.
Give me your hands and we both shall act the play
Of our lives, from the present till our decay.
The venomous fangs of sorrow we both shall slay.
I can promise you will never be in my sway.
That was all that I had to say.
You can accept or reject or walk your way.
But my arms are open for you, have a glance
Or come to meet me as you have my address.
